Arthritis is the wear and tear of the joints resulting in pain, stiffness and swelling.
Many of our Pilates clients suffer from arthritis in the neck back, shoulders, hips and knees. Pilates helps to reduce the pain and swelling by helping to loosen joints and to strengthen the muscles around the joints.
Correcting muscle imbalances also helps reduce the stress and strain around arthritic joints.
Many of our clients have found considerable improvement in their pain levels by regular performance of their Pilates Exercises.
Physiotherapy mobilisations, massage, ice, heat or electrical therapy are also used to help reduce the pain and swelling from arthritis.
